James Troup - Winchester & Eastleigh
Hi, I’m James and I’ve been elected as the MYP for Winchester and Eastleigh. I’ve been involved in everything from school councils to local youth councils for a number of years and I’m really excited about this fantastic opportunity. Like anyone I have many aims for my term as the MYP based on my own ideas and feelings. However, I was elected to represent my constituents’ views and that will be my foremost goal. I want to get the opinions of the young people I represent and then do my upmost to communicate those views to others and make sure that action is taken on them. I want to help young people with issues that really matter to them and try to make a difference in our community.
Felicity Stonehill - Winchester & Eastleigh
Hello! My name is Felicity Stonehill and I am 15 years old and I am DMYP for the Winchester and Eastleigh region. I am now heavily involved in other youth council projects such as Youth of Winchester, which has been running for a year now, which focuses on Winchester but included other places. HCYC is also something I am involved in and I am hoping to run for chair next year. I am also a member of The Edge project which is a project to make more young people come into libraries and museums, I am working with the team on a takeover day in July and I'm running the fashion show part of the day. I love working with the rest of the members at UKYP and I've made some really good friends, and hopefully we can make a difference.
My name is Flo Simons, I'm 14 years old. I go to Robert Mays School. I really love debating, and I'm pretty awesome at standing up for what I believe in.
Some of the things I'd really like to change this year include paying to go to university, and free transport for under 18's. Since young people can't drive, nor can they work, I really don't see how it is fair that we should have to pay so much for a short bus journey or a train.
Also, the fact that we have to pay for universities is unfair; the government is saying that people get into debts too easily. Well, I say that how can the government expect people to stay out of debt when the moment they become an adult they suddenly have a few thousand pounds of student loans to pay off.
I'm really looking forward to this year, and I will try my very hardest to make a difference.
My name is Katy Lynn Horgan and I attend Robert Mays school. I have always had a passion for politics and debating and am so thrilled to have been elected for youth parliament. This year I hope to raise awareness for UKYP and try stop age discrimination towards teenagers from adults. I think it is important that adults face up to the fact that not all young people are ‘yobs’ and that the vast majority of young people are nice members of the community. I am really looking forward to this year and a chance to make a difference.

Patrick Glendon - Basingstoke & Deane / Test Valley North
Hi my name is Patrick Glendon and I represent Basingstoke & Deane / Test Valley North. I am really excited about my position that I am in because as well as everyone approaching me now I am going to speak to the major and ask him for his support and advice and subjects that we will be discussing. Also I am very pleased that I can get to know people from different places.
Alex Armstrong - New Forest & Test Valley South
My name is Alexander Armstrong, im 18 years old and I’ am the MYP representing The New Forest and Test Valley South. I am a very enthusiastic young politician and have always aimed to help improve the lives of young people wherever I can.
As an MYP I hope to achieve a fair few things; I strongly believe that throughout my constituency and Hampshire public transportation for young people is extortionate and for the amount that we pay, inadequate. I feel it is wrong that we have to pay adult prices at the age of 15, when in legal terms, we are not classed as an adult until we are 18! This means that young people have to pay full priced fares, the same as what an adult pays, who also works and earns money. This system is totally unfair and during my term of office I hope to be able to persuade local government and transportation companies to subsidise or lower fares for young people.
Another one of my big issues is helping to change the negative image of young people into a positive one. Constantly young people are slated in the newspapers as anti-social, disrespectful and rebellious. As many of us know, this is not the case, infact only 23% of young people were reported as behaving anti-socially in the last 12 months, however, we constantly see negative images of young people printed in the press everyday. I hope to be able to change the image of young people and promote what benefits teenagers have brought to their communities.
I hope throughout the next year I will be able to make a difference to all young people and will do my very best to achieve this.

Jack Sheeran - East Hants & Havant
I’m Jack Sheeran and my hobbies are walking, Drama (comedy), Music, Photography and golf. I have very strong feelings towards the environment and Global warming, and the impact which they will have on society. Our generation should be aware of Global Warming, and other threats, because it looks like we’ll be the ones having to sort out our parent’s mistakes. If you have any ideas or questions do not hesitate to contact me.
Drew Munn - East Hants & Havant
As a DMYP, I want to help young people in my area be heard. I have done this many times in the past, and have made many changes in my previous schools and youth groups. I am looking forward to working with so many young people in the year ahead, and making them feel part of a wider community.
