UK Youth Parliament in Hampshire Elections Results 2011

2nd March 2011

Election results for 2011 have just been released! Young people across Hampshire have balloted for the new Members of the UK Youth Parliament for Hampshire.

Young people aged 11-18 who live in Hampshire, and are residents of the UK, had the chance to be the voice of young people for Hampshire as members of the UK Youth Parliament from 2011 - 2013 and they will take up the two year term of office on 1st March.

The new MYPs will work on campaigns locally and nationally, meeting councillors and Members of Parliament and taking part in a debate in the House of Commons later in the year.

This year we had 51 young people expressing an interest in becoming an MYP and 42 candidates standing for election.

We would like to congratulate the following young people for being elected by their peers as Members of the UK Youth Parliament:

Being a MYP is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about democracy and decision-making. Hampshire County Council is always keen to have young peopel get involved in the democratic process and to make their voices heard about issues which affect them.
